Catching the sunset at Callaway Road

Catching the sunset at Callaway Road

I started taking photos a few years ago by chasing sunsets with Izzy. We went to Kinney Road and Callaway Road, and it is always an emotional experience for me to go back to either place with a camera. Went there tonight with Maria, and we saw the corn starting to come up, and the big sky hover over the road as a cool wind swirled by us. I think I will start chasing sunsets again.

Donkeys like to hang out

Donkeys are affectionate creatures. They love to hang out with people. They have a special bond with Maria, and also with me. When she is done combing them, they both sidle over to me and nose me for attention. If I’m distracted or taking photos of something else, I might get a nose in my butt or even a nip to get me focused. It works. I love their eyes.

The daily brush

Maria and I both brush the donkeys at least once a day, but they especially love it when Maria comes their mane. Usually, within minutes of their brushing, we see them rolling in mud and/or manure, which is even better. We have to trim their eyebrows soon, which might be problematic. Lulu loves to rest her head on Fanny’s back while Maria talks to her. We both love the donkeys quite a bit. I never imagined for most of my life that I would get to know and love a donkey. Or two. Life is quite strange sometimes.

Love is good. My girl

Love is a good thing. My girl

How curious to be married again. How good it is. How nice that we talk to one another. Encourage each other. Listen. That someone could weave themselves into my life so lovingly and completely, like the fabrics she weaves. It is still strange to think of myself as married again. It feels nicer by the day, especially when she is over in her Studio Barn, making her art and loving her life, and helping me to live and love mine. Got to go and cook lunch. Otherwise she will eat a piece of bread and cheese.
