Rose at work. In her prime
I believe that dogs mirror and reflect us, even though we often like to think they have emotional lives and identities all their own. Rose has changed this year. She was always a great farm dog, but this year she is more poised, confident and responsive than I can remember. She seems to have really come of age, to be in her prime. The sheep respect her and respond to her, and she is calm and efficient around them in a deeper and more sound way than before – hard to describe. There is less racing around, she is in charge and the sheep are very calm and even around her.
I can't quite imagine what has happened except that I am changing, and I do believe animals pick up on that. People can make working with dogs and animals pretty crazy and I have done that, but Rose and I are as relaxed together as I can remember.
Come and see:
