I love Florence’s windows, and what they evoke, the spirit of this proud and artistic woman. The mirror reflects me, the farm, the life around her house. This is part of my Tuesday afternoon album, a simple thing, really, a way to share my life. My day began shooting at a fox, and then I wrote a children’s book story – Simon Says Good Night, and then I drove to meet with Mary Muncil, my spiritual counselor, who helped me be clear on my move from Bedlam Farm to a new place we are going to make an offer on. Then back to Rocky’s, to brush him with Maria, and then back to work, and back to the afternoon farm chores. Tonight, reading, reading, reading. My life is doing to good and wonderful places.
I will have what I need. What I want. What I love. What I work hard for. These words would have seemed beyond imagination just a few short years ago. So come and see for yourself, my Tuesday album.
As somebody mentioned on Facebook, there are no storybook endings on a farm. Perhaps Rocky is a storybook ending, in a way. His life is not simple, but he is getting love and attention, and he is loving it. Life is complex, unpredictable, but there are happy endings, small miracles, so many reasons for hope. Animals often give us this opportunity. To feel good. To be better. To learn mercy.
When Maria in the Studio Barn, Frieda loves to lie in the garden across from the window there, so she can see Maria and keep an eye on me. Frieda is absolutely devoted to Maria and once in awhile, Maria comes over to say hello to her, and you can reach out and touch the love between these two. Loves just comes out of this person, all day. Lucky me.
