The photographer George Forss has many dimensions. I’ve rarely met a man so gifted, sweet and interesting. George believes passionately in the existence of aliens – he’s even written a book about it. Some people find this strange, but it makes sense when George talks about it, although you don’t want to ask him about it if you are in a rush. He even has a UFO Investigations vehicle and he is a UFO Investigator. He asks people to contact him when they see aliens, and he has outfitted an ancient VW van – it has 300,000 miles on it, as a UFO Investigations Vehicle.

He has promised to take me out on one of his alien-seeking excursions. He believes they are here and running the show. This could be the photo I have been waiting for. I am very lucky to know George and can’t wait for our first investigation.

I am one of those people who believe there is too much testosterone in the world, and one of the better things about aging is that some of it just dies off. We recently discovered that Freaky is not a she but a he, and his testosterone is emerging. In the last few days, he has begun to strut and crow, like many men do – just watch any NFL wings party or a video of most members of congress or presidential candidates. I think Freaky will be a good rooster. He is easy around people and keeps a close watch on the hens, keeping them near the farmhouse and the barn.

I like this use of testosterone. Reminds me to speak up for myself, to crow for life. His crowing is still pretty pathetic, but give him time. We heard him at 4 a.m. this morning and in a few weeks he will be raising the barn roof.
