When Tess Invited Me To Breakast

by Jon Katz
I accepted
I accepted

This morning, Tess invited me to breakfast. I accepted. We didn’t talk much, just crunched.

And then Flo, the barn cat, invited me to sit in the rocking chair on the porch and scratch her ears for 20 minutes,

and I accepted. The sun warmed us both, and she purred. I might have too, just a bit.

And then Lulu invited me to the hay feeder, to share a bump or two and she invited me to rub the inside of her ears,

which makes donkeys quiver and tremble.

And then Red invited me to go sheepherding with him, he wanted to work with me and show me off to the cable workers by the fence.

And then Lenore invited me into my office to get to work. She lay on her couch beside me, snoring.  It was a  sweet morning.

Good Morning. Forsaking Worldly Cares

by Jon Katz
Power Of The Sunrise
Power Of The Sunrise

Good morning. Every day I am called upon to look inside of myself, and choose what the rest of my life will be.mEvery day, I reject a small life, a hollow life, a life lived in fear and without purpose.

Every day, my choice.

This morning, the sky was lit by the splendor of the sunrise,

so powerful it took my breath away, and nearly knocked me to the ground.

You love has made me certain I am  ready to forsake the wordly life,

and surrender to the magnificence of love.
