Who Jumps First?

Who Jumps First?

Liam and Pumpkin are the biological opposites of Deb and Jake, they butt heads,  hop around the pasture and climb on every rock they can find. Yesterday, they were out on a limb, up on the rocks, thinking of jumping. Eventually, they both moved closer to the rocks that were low to the ground. And then they jumped.

Taking In The World

Taking In The World

I find our two new lambs, Deb and Jake enchanting. They are small, a bit frail, and gentle. They do not hop around and explore every corner of the world as Liam does, they are often together, observing the world. They are twins, so smaller, and Ma, their mother is somewhat frail. We are going to offer them some lamb’s milk as a supplement, but the vet thinks they are okay. Sometimes, I go out into the pasture and sit with them, they don’t seem to mind.

Loving Donkeys

Loving Donkeys

I am surprised by how much I have come to love our donkeys, they are such special creatures. They love in the most powerful and indirect of ways. It helps to sit down in front of them, they will come over to you, press their foreheads against yours, lean into you. Donkeys can be difficult, they can read the moods of humans, if you calm yourself, wait for them, they will come to you and show you their love. It is a wonderful thing to love a donkey.
