Going To Court With A Farrier

Going To Court

Ken Norman is a good friend and our long-time farrier.  I admire him.

He is, like most people with a farm, a passionate animal lover, he and his wife Eli have been rescuing horses forever and rehabilitating them and saving donkeys as well. He works with abused animals all the time, and is also a volunteer in his local fire department. He is a first responder.

Ken had both of his knees replaced in December, he wanted to come to Glenville to support Joshua Rockwood.

He knows animals, what they should eat, what a healthy one looks like, what an abused animal looks like.  Rockwood is a Glenville, N.Y. farmer who has been charged with 13 misdemeanor counts of animal neglect and abuse, and whose horses and dog were taken from him. Ken and I went to court together, and I could not have gone with a better person. We had fun and Ken is invaluable sifting through the evidence, such as it it. He is not softie when it comes to animal abuse, but he called the charges “Bullshit Misdemeanors,” it was a great term, it captured the night perfectly.

I am grateful for the ride and for his input.
