Forgive Yourself

Forgive Yourself
Forgive Yourself

I wonder, sometimes, where there is so much guilt in the animal world,

is it because they can’t speak, and seem to love so unconditionally?

Because they touch the deepest parts of ourselves, and open up channels

of love and connection we did not know we had?

Forgive yourself,

when you lose your temper,

when you help them leave the world

in grace and dignity,

when you have to go out,

or away,

or you waited too long,

or acted too soon.

Or yelled and shouted and

stamped your feet.

Forgive yourself,

sometimes we love them too much,

and blame ourselves,

too much.

Forgive yourself.

You are human, and that means

you are human.

You will make mistakes,

more than once,

that is the toll of love.

Forgive yourself.

They do.

Loving Life

Loving Life

I can barely describe how much Fate loves life and all of the people in it. Friday, we went to the vet to get the last in her series of shots, she loves the vet, loves every person working there. Yesterday, she met Nicole, the new vet tech, and rolled over for a wriggly belly scratch. Needless to say, Fate is quite popular at Cambridge Valley Vet.

Flower Garden. On To Blue Star

by Jon Katz
Flower Garden
Flower Garden

Going to Blue Star Equiculture this afternoon, to spend the night, visit Pamela, attend a pig roast party, and visit with Mithra Kulatunga, the young man who is building a beautiful garden on the farm in the shadow of the big tree where Paul Moshimer died. I believe Mithra’s Garden will become something of a  holy space, a destination, a spiritual place. Mithra is living out in the garden this summer while building and tending it, I want to spend some time with and try and understand what makes him do this in an age of selfishness, greed and conflict. We want to see how Pamela is doing also.

We’ll be back on Sunday.
