In the morning, when I wake up, one of the first things I see is Fate hovering above me or near me. She is focused, alert, her Pirate Eye is upon me. She is asking me “when?,” I believe. When will be go to work, when will you stop lying around and move, when will we go out, do things, chase things, run in circles. Curiously, this is the same thing I am usually asking myself, my mind works like hers, Maria says we are just alike. I wish I had her legs.
Still, it is an invigorating way to wake up in the morning, Fate is the Joy Dog, she reminds me to live, to get moving, to think, to not be complacent. We have the right dog for us. People ask me all the time what the best way is to get a dog, and I cannot tell them that, it is an individual decision. For me, it works this way: get the dog you want and need, no matter where it comes from.
Do not listen to anyone who tells you there is only one way to get a dog. They may care about dogs, but they don’t care enough about you.
