Mowing The Lawn

Mowing The Lawn

We let Chloe onto the front lawn today (we put up a temporary fence, she could walk right through it, but we are standing there) and she went about her business, helping to mow the lawn, which is sprouting rich green grass this week. Too much of it is not good for her, neither is too little. The sheep are not permitted into the lawn, they were ticked off. It’s neat having a pony and two donkeys to help with the mowing.

Expanding The Garden

Expanding The Garden

We doubled the size of the garden by the back porch this afternoon, a good, healthy and interesting experience. Maria dug the garden out, we went to a nursery near Hoosick Falls to buy some flowers and plants and came back to plant and water the new garden. The house is looking spiffy, new coat of pain and the gardens are coming up.

The Brown Hen

The Brown Hen

The brown hen loves to sit on the pasture fence and look out at the field, I have never been in the right position with a camera to capture this pose, which seems beautiful to me. Today, I was standing at the gate and she hopped up and almost posed for me. A lot of photography is skill, a lot is luck, being in the right place at the right time with the right lens.

Windowsill Gallery: Saturday Sunlight. Off To Class

by Jon Katz
Full Day
Full Day

A full day today. I teach my writing class at Pompanuck Farm, the class is bursting  with creativity, book ideas, poems, essays, ideas. Four of them are seeking agents, three are self-publishing books, another is seeking a commercial publisher, several are working on their blogs..

I’m buying Maria breakfast at the Round House Cafe, and picking up coffee for the class. Then we’re going to a nursery to buy some flowers to plant, then our friends from New York City – the city mice – are coming for dinner. Tomorrow I’m going to see Captain America. More later.
