IR Camera: First Photo, Tornado Watch

First Photo, Tornado Watch

This is the first photo I have taken with my new Intrared Converted camera, it is striking. I took it just as a tornado watch – a rare thing in upstate New York – was declared and everyone in our town was asked to take shelter. I only had a few moments before it started pouring and hailing, but the skies opened briefly, and I imagined this is what heaven must look like, where the throne of God might be. The camera picked up the rain in the clouds and made them grainy, but I loved the affect, it highlighted the light.

It’s still dark and stormy –  no tornado around the farm and I’ve heard no town sirens – and I have to figure out how to control and use this camera. It will be partly sunny Saturday and all sunny on Sunday. We’ll see what happens. I have a lot to learn about this camera and how it works. But I was intrigued by the power of this photograph.
