Annie lures the goats out of their pen
March 18, 2008 – Confrontation in the pasture today, one of farmlife’s little dramas. We decided to let the pesky goats out of their winter pen, and into the big pasture with the sheep and donkeys, Rose’s territory. She really hasn’t had much to do with the goats, as she is not interested in anything that isn’t her work. In the pasture, the goats are hers, and she rushed up to challenge Murray and try and herd him. He choose not to be herded, and there was a nose-to-nose standoff for a a few minutes, until I called Rose off and she took a shot at Murray’s butt as she went out of the pasture. I put the goats back in their pen for a bit. This isn’t over. Goats don’t herd and Rose doesn’t quit. Unlike Lenore, Rose is not the Love Dog. She is the boss, and quite touchy and imperious about her authority.
Lulu kicked her nearly three years ago and Rose nips at her butt or tail every single time she enters the pasture.
