In the cold weather, we turn on the heat lamp for Winston, who hugs the corner with one or two of his hens. Cold weather has finally arrived, and Winston stays close to the lamp.
Rose and the Imaginary Squirrel

November 16, 2008 – One of the timeless traditions at Bedlam Farm is Rose’s determined pursuit of the Imaginary Squirrel that she first chased up this tree in 2003. Just about every day since then, she looks for him, making sure he is up there, pursuing her task completion while her buddies sit and observe this strange ritual. Izzy and Lenore are fascinated by the squirrel too, though you won’t catch Izzy straining himself to chase a squirrel up a tree. When it is windy, Rose is especially vigilant. Border collies are supposed to be smart, but I sometimes wonder if they aren’t just determined.
