  One of the great joys of country life is fresh vegetables and fruit in the summer. Corn made its first appearance today at Sheldon’s Market in Salem, N.Y., and we were there. Can’t wait for dinner.

  July 22, 2009 – Sometimes – this is one of those days, I think about a  smaller, simpler Bedlam Farm. Fewer acres, fewer barns. Room for the dogs, room for me, a studio for Maria. I was a reporter for some years, and I have this instinct – not always good – for the times. For me, right now, simplicity is calling to me. We’ll see.
