Signs of Spring
February 9, 2010 – Smile. Lenore is ready for Spring. It is cold out, and storms on the way. But there are many signs of Spring. It is light earlier, the Sun is stronger and higher in the sky, and is out longer. The photographer in me is more sensitive to light, and I see how it is changing. I hear songbirds, and see some grass and buds beginning to sprout.
I think the country is ready for Spring. Brighten things up. I am still thinking a lot about whether or not to sell the farm. I think over the next year or so it’s a good idea. But no rush. We are thinking more and more about living in Glens Falls, N.Y. We are there are lot, and we are both loving it. I have some notions about writing one day about life in a small city on the rebound.
Winter is tough in the North Country, but one of the best things about it is how sweet Spring is. I can smell it, feel it.

Notes. People are asking me why I take photos of trucks. I like them. They tell stories to me, and they don’t get their just rewards. They are tossed away like junk, but they seem to me to have proud histories. So get ready for more. I hope to do a farm truck photo show somewhere later this year.
Other notes: Maria is having her quilt show “Cut It Up” reception a the Crandall Public Library in Glens Falls, N.Y. Februay 18 from 5 to 7 in the library gallery. My Bedlam Farm notecards are for sale at Redux. Mary Kellogg’s new book of poetry “Whistling Woman” is on sale from the Troy Bookmakers.
Have four more stories to go in my short story collection.
