August 10, 2007 – Cool, sunny. Paula and I are going out to celebrate our birthdays together. Last official reading of the book tour is Saturday night at Northshire Books in Manchester, Vt. (Have a re-scheduled visit to North Carolina this week).
  Perfect Pearl has returned to Bedlam after months in Brooklyn as a writing support dog, assisting my daughter Emma who is launching her own writing career, and writing a book on New York baseball. Pearl has captured Brooklyn by storm, adjusting to city life, making many friends, and anchoring Emma in her work, as she is wont to do. Still, we are very glad to have her back. She arrived this morning with Paula, and it was great to see both of them walking on a nearby path. She and the border collies seem to remember each other, and all have adjusted very easily. Welcome home, Miss Pearl, the Queen of Labs. Is there a more beautiful dog face in the world than that?
