November 11, 2007 – I get a lot of e-mail from people inquiring as to the current Bedlam Farm dog crew. Here they are, in the picture taken above – Izzy on the left, Lenore, and Rose. Dogs come and go here, but some dogs will never go – Izzy and Rose among them.
  The other dogs – Homer is living happily in Montclair, N.J. I visit him, but he doesn’t come to the farm.
                          Clementine is living happily in Vermont. She visits.
                          Pearl is living happily with my daughter Emma in Brooklyn. She visits.
                          Emma is with my friend Audrey and her husband.

                          Orson died two years ago, put down after he bit three people. He is buried here.
                         
   Izzy and I do hospice work, he shadows me almost everywhere. Rose works on the farm. Lenore is resident lovebug, her life and work yet to be defined. I see her as a true contemplative, the Thomas Merton of dogs. We’ll see. I will continue to hold the line at three, but am always available to take in the right dog, train and care for him or her, and send them off to a good place. I love to have dogs with different roles, different work to do. This crew gets along happily. Rose and Izzy were annoyed by the puppy, but have adjusted. She is a calm, well-behaved, housebroken and intensely socialized puppy. I think she will be a great dog for me.
