January 17, 2008 – I am drawn to photos of silos and factories. Upstate New York is the strangest mix of history, natural power, industrial might, impoverished towns and farmlands. These factories seem beautiful to me, especially at night, where their power is both evocative and a bit disturbing. I love to walk around them, though, and try and fiddle with settings. Not simple, especially at night, in the cold, dodging traffic and guards and constantly messing up settings and lenses. Still, how else do you learn, and how better? Izzy is a dependable companion, a lookout. I hope to get him a backpack so he can carry lenses.
  This factory, in Glens Falls, N.Y., is my favorite. There are two more nearby I am focusing on.
