I couldn’t resist trying this without the tripod, and as I had a long lens, 70-200 mm, and had neglected to bring wider angle lenses, I knew the lens would be unsteady, and I decided to go for affect, and I was pleased. Industrial America, especially upstate, has a kind of eerie beauty to it, a sense of power and might from another time, and these factories stand out among the grimy towns and rural beauty. At night, especially, these factories seem beautiful and eerie to me. In some ways, they seem as out of place as the dying old family farms, and as natural, too.
