You can’t learn this at Home Depot

January 19, 2008 – Bill and Maria Heinrich are almost single-handedly restoring the old Methodist Church and Grange in West Hebron. Sub-zero weather doesn’t bother them, nor does hauling unspeakably heavy stuff around, climbing on roofs, lating Slate, building foundation stone by hand. Here they are working on restoring the Grange’s old windows. The building was constructed in 1803, and was in Cambridge, N.Y. before being moved to West Hebron to be a church, then a grange. Bill and Maria have a website on this site – Friends of Bedlam Farm and you can follow their progress there.
They are also working on a book to be published by Bedlam Farm Books about their lives in restoration, including the remarkable story of the Grange and their painstaking work restoring it. It will take two more years, they think. They are also great friends. I admire them. You don’t learn this at Home Depot.
