January 25, 2008 – Well below zero this morning. My fingers ache, especially the four that got frostbite my first winter. I have to dip my fingers in paraffin wax when I get in, especially if I have been taking pictures, which I foolishly did. Still, a beautiful morning. I put up a photo of the donkeys catching the first rays on the Photo Journal. No sign of the goats yet. But the sheep were all huddled up, still and waiting for humans to bring them some hay. Sheep know how to be warm, and at first, I feel sorry for them, but then realize they have five inches of fleece, and are fine.
