January 26, 2008 – Cloudy, a bit warmer. Izzy and I are going to Glen’s memorial service this afternoon, and it will be nice to see the family again. Glen, too.
  I’m happy to share the new logo for Bedlam Farm Books. Raenne Wright and the people at Trampoline Design in Glens Falls, N.Y., (they designed my new photo site, photosbyjonkatz.com, as well have struck again. The rooster shown above is Winston, my venerable rooster, and the grandad of the farm.
  Raeanne also design the Bedlam Farm website, and she is a genius, grasping the core of what people are about, and translating ideas into symbols, graphics and design. The new photo site is a brilliant vehicle for somebody like me to get things under control, and just display good photos.
  As to Bedlam Farm Books, we have an editor – Maria Heinrich – and some good projects. The first book will be “Out of The Shadows,” an account in words and pictures of my bout with some emotional issues, and subsequent renewal and …well, I’d guess you’d have to say rebirth. Then, Mary Kellogg’s first book of poetry. After that, Maria and her husband Bill will put together a book on restoration, on their lives and their work on old farms and historic buildings. I’d like to do a book on Hospice, words and pictures.
  I am also considering publishing the writings of some Granville, N.Y., High School students I will be teaching next week for six weeks. The idea is to write some fiction and non-fiction accounts of growing up in Granville, a rural farming community that could be pulled together and published. This obviously depends on what we crank out, and how good it is. Izzy and Lenore will be attending classes with me, and both are accomplished writing support dogs.
  Bedlam Farm Books are being published in conjunction with the Troy Bookmakers of Troy, N.Y. A portion of all proceeds will go to Washington County Hospice, if there are any proceeds. I will continue to publish my other books with Random House, of course, and the next book, “Izzy, Lenore and Me: Unexpected Journeys” is coming out in October.
  Anyway, when you have a logo, you are for real, right? Honor goes to Winston, thanks to Raeanne and the very creative, exciting gang at Trampoline. They are the best.
