Announcing “My Life With Rose: A Celebration” An E-book Original

My Life With Rose

Rose inspires me to work and work. I’ve decided to do my first E-book Original Book – to be sold digitally only – with Random House. I’m going to New York in a couple of weeks to sort it out. I’m very excited about it. I will provide some original writing and include photos, videos, other links and some of my writing about her death on the blog. Tentatively, the book will be called “My Life With Rose: A Celebration.” I’ve been exploring the possibilities of e-books for some years now, and am thrilled that Rose and I will do this together, as we have done so much good work. It will also be a fitting tribute to her, in a form and place where people know her life well.

Rose seems to keep working and working. I see how her spirit lives in me. They do not, in fact, just disappear.

We are working to see that the book can be sold in the websites of independent bookstores (like Battenkill) as well as on Amazon and Ibooks and Google and digital tablets and I am thinking of expanding this form into books about donkeys, bedtime stories for children, and also to explore some other subjects we discuss on the blog – fear, spirituality, rural life, and  life with donkeys, dogs and chickens.

My main writing focus will remain paper books. I think these two formats will complement one another, and each can stimulate interest in the other. It is the future to some extent, and I mean to be a part of it. I intend to be relevant, and not sitting around in five years bitching about the end of literacy and the written word. E-books are books just like paper books are, and I can’t wait to publish both. A great creative opportunity to help forge some new literary history.  I am very happy to be doing this with Random House. Lots of people say writers can publish their own books now, but I’m not there. Random House distributes books a lot better than I do. Between this blog and their marketing skills, Rose will make some noise out there. I can’t wait to go to work on it. I will keep you posted.

We are probably shooting for early Spring publication.
