Tuesday Album: Portraits Of A Life Unfolding

Tuesday Album: Portrait Of A Life Unfolding

The camera is not an occasional visitor to my life, it is a fulcrum around which much life evolves. I carry my camera when I feed the dogs, bring hay to the donkeys and the sheep, let the chickens out of their coop, go and visit Maria. Everyone is used to it here, they associate it with food and nourishment, and with me. The grips are worn shiny and the feel of the camera is like an extension of my hand now. When I approach the animals, they gather to see what will happen next. Red is ready by the gate to go herd the sheep. He is calm and professional as always, no jumping or rushing around. He waits. The donkeys, ever curious, are on the alert for food or attention, and the sheep, increasingly emboldened in their new life here, come up and see if perhaps there is something for them. So there it is, a  group portrait.

Animals know how to adapt and evolve. They are all Jon and Maria scholars. They know how we are and where we are.

I took some other portraits today of my life unfolding. It is changing, evolving, as always. I am letting go, or trying hard, of some deep and old and awful things, and opening the door for newer things, better things, more loving things. I’ll put my Tuesday Album up on my Facebook Page and you can come and see it there.
