Poem: The Hole You Dug For Yourself. Vote For Dancing.

by Jon Katz
Living In The Hole You Dug
Living In The Hole You Dug

I once met the most beautiful creature,

buried deep in the hole she dug for herself,

living in the hole she had dug.

I crept softly outside of the hole at night,

I sang songs of love and magic to her,

I left seeds and pots of flowers,

fruit and chocolate,

I cried and begged for the angels and spirits

to come, but they did not.

I danced in the moonlight around the hole,

she had dug for herself.

And still, she would not come out.

One day, I left a note for you,

yes you, you know who I mean,

hiding in the hole you have dug for yourself.

You need to come out, I whispered through the top of the hole.

I have fallen in love with the someone who is hiding inside of you,

Come out of there, I will never leave you alone there,

to hide and drown in fear.

And you did come out,  you voted for dancing.
