Farmhouse and barns, Washington County, New York

I am experimenting with still life photography this week, I took this photo of a painting in the window of George Forss’s Ginofor Gallery in Cambridge, New York.

Zelda’s stomach has dropped a bit further, as far as I’m concerned, the most reliable indicator of an impending birth. I don’t know for sure, but if I had to guess I’d say Zelda is about a week away, possibly less.

Technically, I’m the shepherd and Red is the sheepdog, but I think the truth is Red is the shepherd, these are his sheep as well as Maria’s, whenever I look up, take a photograph, turn around, Red is watching his flock. He is content to watch them unless told otherwise, and he never bothers them or pursues them for sport or without permission. They are comfortable with him, they respond if he gets close or moves, but they will eat peacefully under his gaze, graze when he is nearby.

I enjoy taking these daily photos of Red, and judging from the messages I get, people enjoy seeing them. Red is an inspiration to me, he reminds me to be strong, clear and faithful to my work.
