What? Pizza? The Best Laid Plans For The Mansion

The Best Laid Plans

Winter has been showing some fangs and some of our best laid plans for the Mansion residents are getting scrambled. The RISSE soccer kids were supposed to join the Mansion residents for lunch and that went by the wayside, so did our planned Sleigh Ride, postponed until Spring.

Once the deep winter sets in up here, we just batten down the hatches and wait until Spring. A friend has put their dead and beloved dog in the basement freezer until April, it’s no longer possible to bury her in the back yard.

One plan that has survived is today’s Pizza New Year’s Celebration. Scott Carrino from the Round House Cafe is bring a load of his popular gourmet pizzas to the Mansion at 11:30, the residents and staff are all invited to join in, courtesy of the Army Of Good.

I’m going to help serve and Red is coming to do his thing. Peggie was shocked to hear the news yesterday. “Really?. Pizza. Here?” Perhaps we can warm things up a bit.

Yup, and a good day for it. The residents are pretty much locked in by the cold, nobody can even take any walks. We’re serving pizza for 40 people, 32 residents plus the staff. Sunday, going to Albany to meet Ali to begin our Refugee Food Project, we are bringing $150 worth of groceries to a refugee family in need every month.

A drop in the bucket, but everything begins somewhere, one deed at a time, one day at a time.
