I got Maria an antique darning egg from France for Christmas, today she used it one of her socks for the first time. I think she was excited at using this egg, which looked as if it had been used many times before. She said it worked beautifully, it held the sock firmly in place and she didn’t have to worry about sticking a needle into her finger.
There was something special about bringing this old darning egg back to life in an old farmhouse, built around the time the egg was being used.
