One happy outcome of the last few months has been my new love for the egg n’cheese sandwich once a week at Jean’s Place.  Sometimes I get it with sausage, sometimes on an English Muffin, sometimes on Jean’s homemade toast.

I eat carefully and healthy, but I’m not giving up the amazing egg n’cheese sandwiches from Hoosick Falls.

I love going to Jean’s Place, I feel I am at home there.

The restaurant has opened up with limited seating and I try to get there every Sunday morning. I enjoy talking with Strong Woman Kelsie, I’m bringing her Maria’s newest magnet “I Belong To Me” on Monday.

Maria just ordered a wonderful new refrigerator magnet called “Naked Athena,” inspired by the sex worker who lay down in front of the federal police while they shot her with rubber bullets (yes, there was bleeding) and gassed her with tear gas.

Saturday night we listened to a podcast where Jen, the “Naked Athena” of the Internet from Portland, talked about her spontaneous decision to take off her clothes and reveal the coldness and brutality of the confrontation.

She was impressive, thoughtful, calm, and honest. She said she was in her 30’s and works as a sex worker and performance artist. She seemed very much like an artist trying to reveal the arrogance and brutality of some men, especially those in combat suits.

The federal agents came with an attitude, they expected to teach the protesters a lesson. I think they were the ones who taught a lesson. Portland is calm for the second day in a row.

The Oregon State Police also taught us a lesson: we need police who are professional and well-trained and whose impulse is to protect, not intimidate.
