Breaden’s Growth. He Learns More And Does More With Each Visit. Come And Watch Him Grow. A Great Hire.

by Jon Katz

In his own soft and quiet way, Breaden is winning over our animals, trying new things, gaining confidence, and asking questions. I got him a fascinating new adult toy called a “Water Rocket,” and we have both been expecting a duel with one another when the rockets are ready. With a few household items, they can be fired up to 50 feet into the air—the highest one wins.

He’s getting more at ease. He knows where the brushes are, what the donkey’s moods are like, and how to read them; he’s reached out to Bud, and now Robin and some other sheep. Fate also gets brushes.

We are happy to have him here. I’m excited about the Water Rocket contest.

Beaden was nervous about opening and closing the gate; he didn’t want the animals to get out. He watched and listened, and today he did it all by himself. He did ask Maria to watch; she was glad to oblige.

“B” is not afraid to hand carrots to the donkeys; they love him for it.

Breadon wanted to give Robin a carrot, but she backed away from him at first. He kept trying, and she finally relented. She’ll be wanting to crawl into his lap next. He wouldn’t have done that even a few weeks ago.

Zinnia sits still for her brushing; the two are very easy with one another. Zip, who can’t bear any other animal getting his attention,  comes and rolls over; he is the star of every picture.

  1. Robin is a male sheep, not a female. Do you actually pay attention at all to your own livestock, or is that your wife’s job?

  2. Kathy, is this your business? Wow, you must lead a boring life.
I’m adding you to my survey list about Yentas on social media. P.S. You’d do better to get yourself some manners.

    1. Not knowing the gender of one of your animals is frankly embarrassing. I expect you to pay more attention to them!

      1. Writing a letter like this would be frankly very embarrassing for me, Daphne. I’ve never done it, thank God, and I pray I never will. Robin loved carrots from me this morning and every morning; he seems fine. Congratulations, you are on my award-winning social media Yenta list. (The use of “Yenta” originated in Yiddish theater; it means “busybody.”) My grandmother hated yentas and passed the feeling along to me. I love rejecting them. Be well. Be sure to huff away. Important things are happening in the world. You might consider reading about them.
