It was over 70 degrees on Tuesday! I took my photography class outside, equipped with bubble wands. There is something magical about those first stolen days of false Spring (it’s 37 as I write this).

Days like Tuesday feel like hope and good things to come. The students had a blast and captured wonderful images. Right away, they started using a large puddle that reflected the sky to catch the bubbles so they could photograph them. It has become a day we all look forward to each year. The inner child in all of us wants to play on warm spring days.

Avisha made a sweet 3-D piece with birds and sunflowers. She loves to go digging through bins and boxes of treasures that come in, looking for “inspo,” as she calls it. Cindy finished her winter rainbow painting as well.

She is one of our exchange students this year and has an unbelievable work ethic and attention to detail. She spent weeks on the painting but never gave up!

Scarlett has been sewing this week. She took an old pair of jeans and turned them into a wonderful tote bag. She’s not finished yet and has been adding new things during each class. I’ll get finished photos next week!

Studio art is screen printing shirts that I had left over from another class. Some of my boys are making shirts with math formulas on them. They plan to show up in trigonometry class wearing them. They are smart guys who love math and have a great sense of humor. I know the math teacher will think it’s the best!

Thank you to Birgitt from CA for the great collection of rubber stamps. Rubber stamps are such a popular item for so many reasons. Teenagers make a lot of cards!

Thank you to Joan for the origami book and paper. Early finishers have been all over it this week. Little creations are popping up all over! She has also made a generous offer of some gently used camera equipment for the photography class and sent a donation for healthy snacks! We appreciate Joan so much!

Kathy has outdone herself this week with a St Patrick’s Day treasure box. There were so many wonderful items in the box, I don’t think she’s left anything on the store shelves. We are having a green dress down day to benefit a local charity, so the kids were thrilled!

Art Club has been crazy busy as well. I love to see all age groups together after school. The 6th graders do not have time for art in their schedules right now, so many of them come after school.

Thank you to Danielle, who has ordered a food delivery for tomorrow. Healthy snacks are such a blessing. The needs are great in this economy and are only growing. I appreciate each one of you who takes the time to help us. We thank you so much for any help, especially for the good thoughts and positive wishes sent our way. Don’t forget the kids love your letters, and we will hang them in the room. Send us photos too!
