“I sewed the black border around my quilt and hung it on the wall. I sat on the other side of my studio and looked at it.

It sparked and whirled before me, my eye in constant movement. The words “I Sing the Body Electric “from Walt Whitman’s poem came into my mind—a celebration of the body and soul as one.

Now, when I look at my quilt, I can’t think of anything else.

Yesterday, when I finished it and looked at it, I remember thinking somehow it looked like a poem. I don’t even know what that means, except maybe it’s made of different parts, separated but strung together to create a whole.

My quilt makes me smile, makes me want to keep looking. As if I’m trying to figure it out, but can’t quite get there.
