Last week, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band opened their “Land and Hope and Dreams” tour with a prayer for America. I was at Bruce Springsteen’s first bit tour in New Jersey. He won me over. He had me crying more than once.
If he could do it, so can I.
I pray for America to return to its role as the defender of freedom worldwide, and especially in the United States, where our freedoms and generosity have been challenged as never before. Thanks for thinking about it. Prayers for America are a good idea right now. It’s time to stop threatening people and care for them. Jump in if you wish. Thanks. To me, each flower photo is its own prayer for our country.

During the first part of my life my sense of self/identity came through developing characters which I would play: good son, hardworking student, timberjack, partner…success in other people’s estimation. The aging process has been one of internalizing the approval process and the letting go of the roles and facades; no need to “defend the fortress.” A curious things has happened…I tear up more, cry more, and have a sense of feeling more deeply. Springsteen, Amanda Gorman, heroes on our streets in Minneapolis, photographs of earth emerging from behind the moon or your wonderful flowers…
