The flowers are blooming; there are buds on the trees! Nature is truly miraculous. The photography class really loves getting outside for projects. The class meets in the early afternoon, often a lovely time of day. Not too hot, not too cold, sometimes anyway. We had been waiting for puddles to go out for the annual big splash photo shoot. It has rained a lot, mostly overnight, and it’s been so hot that the puddles have dried out.

Yesterday, we decided to bring buckets of water out with us. They tossed stones to make splashes and tossed water to make waterfalls. Way too much fun, and they got some truly amazing photos. Amaya took home the prize of the day with her water shot; she is a master of editing.

Tenth grade Avisha has taken on the new art room table. She has a fabulous design sense and attention to detail. I am excited to see what she does. The plan for the chairs is going to be a different masterpiece theme for each. What a great gift this set has turned out to be!

Yoruichi has been taking gently used clothing and turning it into new! This week, she has been turning an old pair of ripped jeans into a little pleated jean skirt, which is adorable. They amaze me all the time. They can look at something and visualize a new purpose. We live in such a disposable society; we need more of this!

The countdown is on now. The seniors don’t have long to go! She is one of my best painters, and this size has been a challenge for her! She really stepped out of her comfort zone, and I was so proud of her.

The students I selected for the contest I mentioned last week have been doing some nice work. I will share them when they are finished. I ordered the frames yesterday. There are specific dimensions and weight limits for the work they will accept. The reception is in early May, which is only a couple of weeks away. Crazy because it was January five minutes ago.

We are working on wax resist this week. Bless Kathy! The weekly Kathy gift included lots of wax and dye. She truly is the kindest! This week was a basketball theme, and the kids loved that! Thank you, Kathy! The kids feel like you are their own personal angel.

Theresa from WA sent a box this week that had a bag of puzzle pieces! If you have old puzzles, even if missing a piece or two, we would love to have them! We have ideas! She also sent a donation of Amazon gift cards in memory of a dear friend. We are honored to know that her friend followed our program news. The gift cards are so helpful for filling gaps in supplies or healthy snacks.

Nancy from NY sent a box with wonderful items, including some great old postcards. The kids are drawing on maps again right now. Belle from CO sent great maps just in time! Maps, postcards, and sheet music are all things we often use. Thank you, Nancy and Belle!
