Flower Art, Wednesday, April 2026: In Honor Of My Leica, Being Repaired. Back In June

by Jon Katz

My Leica has done wonderful work for me and helped me understand what it means to be a photographer.  It has transformed my creative life. The camera is in the Leica repair shop in New Jersey for nine more weeks. It needs more repairs than I thought, but nothing they can’t fix.

It worked hard in a rugged winter. I’m a little beat up as well by the winter. It was different. I expect to be reunited with the Leica in June, and I will keep up the good work on flowers and my Pastoral pictures. They really do help people navigate the whirlwind going on in our government. I love challenges. Thanks for coming along with me and for appreciating my flowers. Today’s pictures are devoted to my Leica LSR, my companion in my art.

I’m experimenting with form with my flowers, something different.

  1. Jon, your flower art and words have been a beautiful anchor for me in this sometimes scary sea in which we are currently riding. I love that I can jump on my computer in the morning, and know that there will be beauty and truth here. Again, thank you for your words and pictures; they have given me hope – a word I did not use as it felt childish or beggy. My therapist has helped me see that adult hope is different than childhood hope. It is built on the understanding that change is inevitable, and how we navigate it is up to us.
