I was getting ready to go to sleep last night when my iPhone signalled a text message. It’s an unusual time, so I opened it and got this beautiful message from Sarah Harrington, the Executive Director of the Cambridge Food Pantry. It said this:
“Army of Good stocked the whole list.” I should know by now to never be surprised by what the Army of Good does, but I got a big hug from Maria and thanked Sarah for telling me.
They stocked two Wish Lists in two days. That was a big deal.
More than 50 different items in the Wish Lists over the weekend are on the way in Amazon trucks, helping the Pantry avoid the situation where so many shelves in so many categories were going empty. That is their worst fear, the thing they most dread. The Army of Good is our cavalry; they always show up when there is trouble.
Sarah sent me this message (we usually talk at 5 a.m. each morning):
“The storage shelves were all looking frightfully thin. We had run out of many of the Pantry’s favorite items. It is such a relief to get stocked up again. It seems like we always get just what we need, and just in the nick of time,” she wrote. “Thank you to the Army of Good.”
Sarah said it better than I could. Thank you, this is a miracle, done quickly and without drama or delay. I do not have words to thank you, but the best I can do is THANK YOU! This is going to be a bumpy year for all Pantries. I hope we can stay with them all the way. I believe we can, and we will. Thank you.
There are now only seven items left on a completely new Wish List.
The shelves will be filling up as the trucks come in.

Sarah, who never wastes time, sent me today’s request – Thursday, May 7, 2026. FYI, I noticed the cereal shelf – now down to 7 items – was also almost empty. This new request reflects that:
Scott Paper Towels, 6 Double Rolls, (108 sheets per roll), $6.84.
Amazon Soft and Strong Toilet Paper, 340 sheets per roll, Septic Safe – $7.60.
Quaker Life Breakfast Cereal, (3 Pack), $17.52.
Quaker Life Cereal is the mother’s favorite choice for their children’s breakfast they ask for it every time.

The cereal storage area was barren yesterday. Help if you can, and thanks whether you can or not.

Speaking of Joy, The Pantry Wish List is way down; there are only these items on it, for those of you who missed the excitement:

Thanks, Army of Good, for sending enough Tampas and lines to safety and security. The woman who comes to the Pantry seeking help gets it. They can’t afford an extra dollar. We are the only providers of women’s needs for the Pantry. They are ever grateful; the extra money is put to good use.

You can help the Cambridge Food Pantry at any time, especially this week, by browsing the Amazon Food Wish List, which is continuously updated. Everything on the list is urgently needed. You can access the Food List anytime by clicking any link here or by the green button at the bottom of every blog post.
Some people adopt particular items they see by regularly buying them. Your help makes an enormous difference; you are very much appreciated.
