The food truck goes to the Food Bank every week; it’s the focal point of the Pantry’s week, especially for produce. Book Panks, like Pantry’s, have been hit hard by federal budget cuts.

The items we send to the Pantry are carefully considered: they must be healthy, easy to access, and easy to dispose of. Many of the people receiving what we send are living in apartments, motels, or other places that have no room for the kitchen ovens and stoves most families have.
Canned items are often essential. Sarah keeps that in mind when she asks for anything. A lot of these families are very old, single-parent, or have adults with two or three jobs who often aren’t home, are exhausted, or have no kitchen tools or space.
Every item we seek is listed for particular reasons. Thanks for helping with that. Few Food Banks and food Pantry have the resources, mostly canned, to offer the food that we can offer. It’s a big hole, and we are feeling it and hoping to fill it. Thank you.

The Cambridge Bike Race went on Sunday despite pouring rain, but the food they brought to give away to the bikers and sell to visitors didn’t materialize because of the weather. The Race donated 1,000 pounds of fresh food to the Food Pantry—many thanks. Joy comes from all sorts of places. People are good.
