“B” just got promoted. He’s doing a great job with the animals, opening and closing the gates, walking them into and out of the pasture, brushing the dogs and Zip, feeding Zip and the Chickens. He’s going to be working alone from here on, no observers or helpers. We will, of course, be close by if needed. But his confidence has grown, and he’s got a natural way with animals, not too pushy, not too shy.
He’s getting a ride to and from the farm and a raise, of course. We’re delighted to add him to the Bedlam Farm crew.
As you can see from the photos, he’s solid as a rock, and we love having him around. I can get him to laugh now, and Maria is a wonderful teacher. He’ll be working alone for the most part.
________
Zip, of course, wasted no time in charming “B.”
The donkeys eat out of his hand now.
Fanny loves being brushed in the Spring.
Opening the gates for grazing. “B” handles it all.
Maria keeps amazing me with her different skills. She stays back while B” rounds up the sheep and gets them out of the pasture. That will be one of his tasks, along with cleaning the water buckets and learning how to muck out the barn. We have full confidence in him, but will be careful not to overload him.
Down to the barn to see the frogs.
All done.

Jon, I Love that you and Maria are supporting B in learning about farm work. One of the things that ails youngsters these days is that they seem to grow up without much confidence in themselves. Our schools are not good environments where that is nurtured. Bedlam Farm and the two of you, and of course Zip and all the other animals, are supporting him to become a fine young man. I secretly hope he’ll become a farmer too. It can be such a noble profession. Bless you two for putting so much good into the world. Including all the animals that you’ve rescued and give rich and happy lives. Also so glad you’re feeling better. 🙏
Thanks , Juliana B does live on a farm and would love to run it when he’s older. It’s wonderful to see him building confidence.
Just the expression on B’s face says it all. We can just see the confidence and the enjoyment growing from the photos of just a few months ago!
