As you may know I’m under a serious quarantine to stay inside during one of the deepest head waves in modern time. I broke the quarantine, some urgent things came up, but I’m serious about know.
No diabetic with heart disease takes heat alerts lightly. I’m challenged to keep my flower photos going, using a camera light or two and some living room lights in the celining.
I think Susan Meiselas is right.
When everyone else is staying in sight, the photographer stays out, unable to resist the chance to capture a melting world. Most people don’t run outside in the head to capture the moment. Ansel Adams also spoke my mind when he spoke of the heat, which does slow everything to slow down and creates the light and think light.
Perhaps it’s my artistic ego, but I accept the challenge of captureing and sharing a beautiful and also frightening moment. It’s a gift to try to capture the feeling of something so intense without words. A good photographer rushes to the rare and chalenging. Even when it means going indoors – mostly.

You rose to the challenge well. These are exquisite. Perhaps I’m simply influenced by your words accompanying these pictures, but it really seems that these reflect a different…perspective? Artistic idea? Style? I don’t have the art related vocabulary, but these seem unique in the context of what you’ve been photographing lately.
Thanks, Maureen. I appreciate your message for me. Pictures are just another way of writing another way of telling a story. I only take pictures of flowers that touch an emotion in me or feeling so it’s true that words and pictures both perhaps reflect the same thing.
