I learned that the tiniest blossoms often carry the brightest joy, catching the sun just as boldly as the largest sunflower. Today is dedicated to the small flowers and the wild ones; I’ve come to love their courageous beauty. I think of them as lonely.

I have often watched “alpine tourists” walk past (or, worse, on) the tiny, beautiful, fragile and yet hardy alpine flowers in the mountain meadows in the Cascade and Olympic Mountains and reminded myself to drink in the fullness of nature.
