“Guess what,” Sarah wrote me this morning, “it worked. Ravioli is stocked.” Whew, thanks. “I left it on the list for today; we can always use extra. Can we promote the whole list?” So many things are out.” We can and will do our best. I’ve never seen so many empty shelves.
I went to the Pantry Saturday. The empty shelves stood out. I’ve never seen that before. Sarah never rattles, but I could see she was concerned. The Pantry’s main supplier hasn’t been able to send much in the way of supplies lately. We are filling the void when we can.
She’s asking us to focus first on Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Life Cereal, and Honey Nut Cereal; these affect the children most directly. This is the energy and vitamins they are so often lacking but need so urgently. Whatever you can do will be appreciated. This gets them going in the often tough mornings and gives them strength.
Times are tough and getting tougher. But not tougher than us. I believe we will be standing by all the way to help her in whatever way we can. This is much bigger than us. This is about the soul of our country, and the future of compassion.
Sarah never rattles, but the pressure is visible in her eyes. She hates empty shelves.
Above: Empty cereal shelves.
