Braeden – we call him “B” is having a love affair with Lulu and Fanny, the nice but sometimes standoffish sister donkeys on the farm. Our donkeys have lived with one another all of their lives and are sweet creatures. But they choose their friends carefully – donkeys make up their own minds about everything.

They both have chosen “B” as a valued friend, and he has responded in kind. “B” came to work today – he always comes on Tuesday- and he helped Maria stack the rest of the firewood, and he cleaned the chicken roost by himself and brushed the donkeys

. Given the price of oil, we will need every one of those logs in the winter to warm the farmhouse.

“B” is the first person Maria has ever permitted to help stack the last firewood load of the summer.

“Donkeys make good friends,” he declared. Sure thing. Asher, one of our sheep, has fallen for “B” as well.
