Cambridge Pantry. Thanks For The Different Items. “We Need The Help…” All Three Cereals For $6.07 Dollars

by Jon Katz

Thanks so much for sending different items this week. It makes a real difference. “Yeah!” says Sarah. “We need the help.” Today she is asking for different items – they are out of just about everything – and she is focusing on cereal for the family’s breakfast. “Any cereal item would be helpful,” she says. You can get all three cereals on the list for $6.7.

Here are her special requests for today – any cereal will be appreciated. Sarah says these items were the least expensive cereals she could find on Amazon.

“We need to have a variety of types.”

Cinnamon Toast Crunch Breakfast Cereal, $2.97.

Amazon Saver, Corn Flakes, $1.97.

Amazon Saver, Frosted Flakes Cereal, $1.76.

There are 17 items on the Cambridge Amazon Wish List today; we are looking for the least expensive items to put on the list. Feel free to browse the wish list and choose any of the items you see, if you can. Your dedication is awesome. This is shaping up as the toughest week in Pantry history; the food Bank is sending the smallest foods ever. The Pantry has little cash to buy food.

We are helping; thank you.

I’ll call it “Wish List Day,” and people can choose what they need. On other days, we’ll highlight important items that are running low on the Pantry shelves. Things have changed, and everything on the Wish List is urgently needed and is running out or close to running out as more and more people in need come to the Pantry.

Please take a look at the Wish List and, if possible, choose the items you can support. It is all equally in need.

Sarah is looking for the best prices and finding them. Things are changing rapidly, and we are changing with them. Empty shelves will be around for a while. We can’t do everything, but we can, and we are doing a lot.

This week may be the toughest week yet for the Pantry; their book bank is drastically reducing the bulk of their contributions, at least next week. It’s day by day.

I told Sarah we’ll do whatever we can and stand with her and the food Pantry. It’s almost impossible to stock. I wish Sarah the best of luck in a rough week.

As assistance drops, traffic goes up. Americans are hurting. Food pantries and food banks face a severe worsening crisis driven by a historic combination of soaring demand, reduced federal nutrition funding, and deep cuts to government food assistance programs.

Common Dreams reports that “freezers are getting empty,” and food banks and pantries are struggling as SNAP cuts tear through community after community. The Cambridge Food Pantry is struggling. We are helping as best we can.

The Pantry volunteers are working as hard as they can to fill those shelves.
