This is day two of my ongoing experiment in Photo Art, an experience in photography and abstract art, a controversial kind of genre. I’m loving it, two ways of looking at Zip and flowers and donkeys and hens.
Abstract art gets accused of being a con — paint thrown at a canvas, anyone’s kid could do it — but I think that reaction is the whole point, not a failure of the work. Representational art tells you what you’re looking at before you’ve had a chance to feel anything. Abstraction refuses that shortcut. It hands you color, gesture, and form with no caption, and makes you sit in the discomfort of not immediately knowing. I hope you enjoy it as I do. I’ve added a few captions to new ones for people used to my photography.
