Sunday Pantry Weekend Support: SpagettiO’s, Spaghetti And Meat Balls, $4.00 and Pork And Beans, $1.08.

by Jon Katz

This is my Sunday Contemplation morning, but I’m not comfortable skipping the food Pantry. They need our help more than ever. Sunday is all about giving and caring for many people. (Me included.)

For the weekend, Sarah’s Requests:

Chef Boyardee Spaghetti and Meatballs (Pack of 4), $4.00. Shelf empty.

Camp’s’s Pork and Beans, $1.08. Storage shelf empty.

SpaghettiO’s, Canned Pasta with Meatballs, 12 Pack, $14.76.

——-

Sarah calls these “heat n’eat” foods because they are easy to prepare, dispose of, and heat. Many new visitors are suddenly in motels and small apartments. This makes a big difference for struggling parents, especially as fall approaches and the weather gets colder.

The weekend requests reflect the season, as always, below yesterday’s request repeated:

Del Monte Stewed Tomatoes with Onions,  Celery & Green Papers, (Pack of 12 cans), $16.11.

Alberto VO5 Cream Shampoo, Pack of 5, $12.00.

Sparkle Pick-A-Size Kitchen Paper Towels, 660 Sheets, $7.92.

I’m reposting yesterday’s Items because Amazon isn’t showing how many were purchased yet. Any overage will go to the storage shelves – insurance.

Thanks mostly to good people, this turned out to be one of thePantry’ss worst and best weeks. Their food bank has warned them that supplies are being drastically reduced. The Pantry is showing its strength to its community and the world beyond; it is resilient and determined.

We are slowly but surely stacking the shelves, and thank you. There are not enough words to show gratitude for what the Army of Good is doing. The Pantry volunteers are amazing. The two are working wonderfully together.

The Army of Good comes through, again and again. Most of the shelves in the main store section were full. We helped the Pantry hold the line. It feels good.

Sarah says the Canned Chicken is on the way, and Betty Crock mixes have arrived as well. We are hoping to get shampoo soon. We’re all out. She is especially grateful for this week’s support.

This morning, boxes of bathroom and hygiene equipment arrived. Cereal is still coming in. The Pork Flavor Ramen Noodle Soup is also coming in in substantial numbers.

Thank you! You are keeping good alive.

Please check the Amazon Pantry Wish list if you have the time; they need everything on the list.

The Pantry has never been more needed. The USDA reports that 13.8 million to 14 million children live in food-insecure households, meaning their household lacks sufficient food for an active, healthy life for all members at some point during the year.

The Amazon/Wish List boxes make all the difference. Thank you. You are filling a whole lot of shelves.
