I’ve shifted some of my daily pastoral photography to Dusk, a beautiful time of year, especially as the leaves start coming off the trees. It’s too dark in the morning for good photography, but midday and Dusk are always beautiful—a shift in the schedule. Come along if you wish. There are moments of calm here; everyone is preparing for the darkness.
It’s the calmest time: we are sitting in the house, finishing our writing; the sheep are in the barn, resting for the evening graze; the Amish have come home; the trucks are gone for a while; the birds are silent; the dogs are asleep; the sky is darkening, soon done for the night. I love the Dusk walk; it’s a beautiful end to the day. All I hear are leaves and apples dropping to the ground; all I see is sunlight falling. It’s a quiet time, a peaceful time.
We’ll eat soon, maybe read or do puzzles (Maria loves puzzles). I get tired these days; I look forward to sleeping tonight.
