Next Tuesday, September 8th, Our Annual Army Of Good Wish List For Sue Silverstein’s Art Class. You Are Invited.

by Jon Katz

Two of the most wonderful things the Army of Good does are the Cambridge Food Pantry and Sue Silverstein’s wonderful art class. Every year, the blog posts an Amazon Wish List that Sue uses to launch her students’ artwork. Making art is expensive, and schools don’t have money to spare, just like Food Pantries.  Sue needs this help. My idea of good is helping these groups in any way we can. Sue is the best-loved teacher and human I know, and it is a joy and a gift to help the young discover creativity. I can’t think of a better way to inspire the young or a better human being to do it: next Tuesday, September 8th. Because everyone who knows Sue wants to help, I sometimes post the Wish List the night before to give everyone a chance. Thank you; it’s a wonderful way for Sue to start the school year. Amazon will send the items you buy directly to Sue’s school. In this rough time, Sue offers nothing but love and creativity. Please help if you can. Details below.

News from the Art Room – New Beginnings, The Wish List Begins The Year
Jon has graciously offered to help us fill in supply gaps with an Amazon Wish List next Tuesday, September 8th. The list includes what we need to put together and make the projects possible. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help! It will be posted on Jon’s blog, www.bedlamfarm.com.
The list has things like glue and tape, and erasers. It includes paints and small cups for paint so nothing gets wasted. It also includes the tools we need to take watches apart, plus items to help with sewing and woodworking! Everything has gotten so expensive that this list will truly be a gift. We have had some trouble with shipping deliveries with the summer hours, so we decided to post the list next week when we are back full time. I deeply appreciate the kindness of anyone who can help!
_______
It has been a short but long Summer. We are starting a week later than usual this year, and I think even most of the kids are anxious to get going! Sports have started so that they can be with friends again.
_____
I have some wonderful surprises for them, and I am excited to see how excited they will be! Although I have not written about the program over the last few weeks, many truly kind people have been sending and delivering remarkable things.
___
I know I will miss someone, so please understand how incredibly grateful I am for all the members of The Army of Good who help make the program what it is. I could not do it without you. Special love, of course, for Jon and Maria, two of the kindest and most hardworking people I know.
______
Thank you to Lin from CA for the scrapbooking and stamping supplies. The students love them and will be extremely excited to see the new things.

If you have old clocks or watches around, I would love to have them!

_____

Thank you to Deana from FL for sharing some very personal items with us, along with other miscellaneous items. We are honored to have them.

______

Thank you to Marrisa from NY for a stunning donation of art and craft supplies that belonged to her mom. We are profoundly grateful, and the students will be amazed.

Thank you to Carol from NY for sending so many awesome items with her sister and brother-in-law. And thanks to Dale and Greg. The picture of the latest items for the kids to work with says it all! Such generous people are a blessing!

Thank you in advance to Kathy and Joe, who will be visiting next week and bearing gifts!

Proctors Theater of Schenectady has blessed us again this year, and the students’ work is on display. This is the third year they have been so kind and supportive of our program, and we are beyond grateful. If you are in the area, they are located at 432 State St, Schenectady, NY 12305.
___
We thank Kelly Auricchio for her constant support.
I am excited to start the year and look forward to sending photos of what the students create!
We are always looking to repurpose things that you are willing to part with. We also always need shells, old jewelry, watch parts, and healthy snacks for hungry kids. Kids are always hungry!
____
I spent a lot of time sorting and cleaning this month. The only way the room does not become absolute chaos is that there is a location for everything from buttons to wire! Thank you all for setting us up for what will be the best year ever.
I love hearing from you. My email is [email protected]
Have a blessed day!
Sue
