Cambridge Food Pantry. Thanks And Back To Reality: Out Of Ravioli, Spaghetti And Meatballs, Clam Chowder

by Jon Katz

Thanks for the great support over the past few weeks, when much of the support for the Cambridge Pantry Disappeared. They are working just as hard. We are keeping the shelves stocked whenever we can. Today, Sarah reports that three shelves are empty and need attention. So we’ll try to give them some attention in the ups and downs of the Food Pantry in 2026. Sarah has spotted Amazon bargains whenever possible; two of these three items are just $4.

Update:  Food banks and local pantries across multiple regions report consistently elevated demand, with a noticeable increase in families seeking emergency food assistance for the first time due to persistent living and grocery costs.

Here are Sarah’s requests for today, Thursday the 10th, September:

Chef Boyardee Spaghetti and Meatballs (Pack of 4), $4.00.

Chef Boyardee Beef Ravioli (4-pack), $4.00.

A former police officer and combat soldier, he hopes to use a farm as a place where veterans and police officers can speak with and support one another. Lance is also a musician who travels around the United States. He’s a great addition.

We are about so much more than money.

Thank you again and again for your wonderful donations and for doing good; you can also find them through the Cambridge Pantry Wish List. Sarah calls these foods “heat and eat” items; they are extremely popular.

These are rough days for the Food Pantry, but we are keeping the best foods coming. That includes ravioli, spaghetti and meatballs, and clam chowder. Everyone wants them, and the Pantry can’t afford to buy any.

The Food Bank can no longer provide them with many items, and the shelves are frequently empty.

Last week began as one of the worst weeks in Pantry history; it has since become one of the most meaningful and hopeful, thanks mostly to good people. The Army of Good has been nothing less than heroic.

There are no simple days now and no easy ones.

So far, we have provided every item we have been asked to stock. This is a small but wonderful miracle, an assertion of good hearts and empathy. This is the true heart of Americans.

You bring hope and compassion to this Pantry, this community, and people across the country. There are not enough words to show gratitude for what the Army of Good is doing. The Pantry volunteers are amazing. The two groups are working beautifully together.

Sarah is doing a wonderful job keeping the Pantry serving its customers as best she can.

Check out the Amazon Pantry Wish List if you can. They need everything on it.
