The Cambridge Pantry is having a rough time; almost all its major support sources have canceled or pulled out. We’ve adjusted our support plan.
Sarah is giving us two or three items at a time that are popular and suddenly unavailable or unaffordable. These are critically important for these families. Sarah is doing her part by working hard to find the best prices available, as you can see below.
The idea is to send the healthiest, most loved foods and get mostly canned products because many recipients live in motels or small apartments; some live in trucks. In most cases, they don’t have kitchen equipment, so they rely on canned, healthy foods, especially for the children.
They call it “eat n heat.” The cereal support was a big one.
This is a big gap the Army of Good fills whenever it’s asked. Because Amazon is so overwhelmed, it sometimes takes a bit longer; they are swamped. It’s great when we can stockpile some; things are not going to get easier, at least for a while.
I think we’ve found the best way to help the Pantry: for the Pantry, it’s growing customers and our own ability to be helpful. So far, it’s a great success, perfect for the time. As things get worse, we get better. Thank you. I’ll keep you posted as always.

Sarah’s requests for three items today: “We are out of all three.”

Canned Carrots, Amazon Grocery, $1.12.

Sustained High Demand: Demand at community food pantries is soaring. Ongoing grocery inflation and rising overall living costs (housing, utilities) mean that many working families, seniors, and fixed-income individuals are turning to local pantries to bridge the monthly gap. The government says it’s no big deal, just a war on fraud. It feels like a crisis.
In August, the Army of Good supplied the Pantry with 1,711 lbs of food. Thank you.
