Bedlam Farm Blog Support: I Need Your Help

by Jon Katz

Please support the blog. Part of my Hero’s Journey meant realizing about six or seven years ago that I wasn’t above asking readers to support my blog. I no longer receive payments from my years of writing. I’ve given away most of my savings.

My revenue comes from donations and contributions from readers who find value in what I write, the photos I take, and the flowers I photograph. I decided to turn the blog into a safe stop and a calming escape from the madness and anger raging outside.

But the rising cost of just about everything affects me and Bedlam Farm just as much as it affects you or anyone else. I need Support to maintain it and pay my bills just as you need to pay yours. This is America, and the bills don’t seem ever to get smaller these days.

(Paypal: [email protected], Venmo, Jon Katz@Jon-Katz-13.)

There is a cost in this life – feeding the animals, caring for them, buying hay, fixing roofs and fences, all the things you might read about. I’m open on the blog; I share just about everything that happens here. And everything is getting more expensive.

This month there’s a school and other taxes and storm repair…well, you know the story; it’s rough out there. We have adjusted our lives to live and share them, but I can’t do it alone. If I could, I would. And for years I did. Even Zip needs veterinary care.

If the blog is meaningful to you, please donate whatever you can. Asking for help isn’t easy, for me or anyone else.

Working with the food Pantry has made me even more wary of asking for help. There is real suffering out there. I’m bombarded with daily requests for money, and I have to ask anyone else for some, too. I never get comfortable with that, but I’m no better than anyone else, and I deserve to get paid for my work.

But I  can’t help them if I can’t help myself.

I need it. If the blog is to survive this madness, I do need your help. Please take a look at our Support the blog page for some easy ways to do it. I sense people need a safe place to go sometimes, a pastoral place focused on nature and the simple life, and beautiful flowers.

They cost money, too; so does photography, and I will never charge for that. I also won’t sign up for online sites that charge for good ideas. It doesn’t seem right to me.

In bitter cold and hot weather, I’m out there, bugs and welts included. I need help to keep it up.

One of the easiest is to donate any amount via PayPal or Venmo. People can support the blog with simple one-time payments or monthly or annual Support. Small payments are as welcome as bigger ones. As I hope you know, I work hard; the photos, essays, and flower pictures help people deal with the troubles in the outer world.

I will keep at it to the end, but I would appreciate help if you can offer it.

To contribute via PayPal, use [email protected]. To contribute on Venmo, I’m Jon Katz@ Jon-Katze-13. Or by mail: Jon Katz Blog Support, P.O. Box 205, Cambridge, N.Y.

And thanks.
